Article 14: We have the right to our freedom of thought and choice of religion, and to understand the practises of other religions.
This half term, Year 6 have been studying the religion of Islam in R.E. On Wednesday 8th November, we visited the local mosque in Bensham – the Al Furqan Mosque. The Imam, Tim, shared with us the practices of Islam and what Muslims would do in the mosque when they come to pray. We compared the features of the mosque to what we have experienced in other places of worship before observing their afternoon prayer. We also had a demonstration from one of the children in our class who was brave enough to share their practice. It was really interesting to gain an insight into people from different religions and the children asked some really interesting questions to help learn more about the religion.
