Article 31: Every child has the right to relax, play and take part in a wide range of cultural and artistic activities.

We were all very excited when the temperature grew colder and it started to snow. We went straight outdoors to investigate. Some children made some snowballs and brought them inside. We were curious about what would happen. We found that the radiator was a heat source and put the snowballs in a ball on top while we ate our lunch. Some children made predictions about what would happen. We found out that the heat made the snowballs turn to liquid. We then shared ideas about how to freeze the water again.

We discovered together the many possibilities both creative, physical and social that play in the snow could bring. Some children opted to be creative with the snow, using the transient art materials to create collages and sculptures, others explored shapes and tracks that they could make in the snow. We particularly enjoyed playing together with the sledges. The children needed to work together to push and return the sledges to the top of the hill. They discovered how best to steer the sledges and took turns making the play fair.
