The children in reception class have been learning a lot about letters and sounds through daily phonics sessions. They are beginning to show confidence when applying this knowledge in their mark-making play. Over the past few weeks children have been observed making letter type shapes in their ‘writing’ and have shown lots of interest in writing for real purposes. Labels and lists have been really popular. Children are beginning to say the sounds that they can hear in words to record what they want to say about their pictures and models.
