Article 28: We have the right to an education.
Some children in Nursery engaged in role play in the kitchen and decided to make cakes to sell in their shop. They used mixing bowls, spoons and baking trays as they played. We decided that it would be a good idea to get some real ingredients out of the kitchen cupboard to make some play dough using the same resources.
The children followed the recipe by looking at the words and listened to the teacher read. They then measured out the ingredients by counting the number of spoonfuls to add each time. The children talked about the changes that they saw as they mixed water and oil into the dry ingredients. The children learned about how to use different tools as they made their dough including spoons, and rolling pins to change the mixture.
They were excited to watch the play dough change from dry to sticky then soft as they observed the process. Once the play dough was made, it was fun to use it in the kitchen.
