Article 31 (leisure, play and culture): Every child has the right to relax, play and take part in a wide range of cultural and
artistic activities.

Article 29 (goals of education): Education must develop every child’s personality, talents and abilities to the full.

At Nursery this week we heard a story about Maisy Mouse at bath time. The children thought about what Maisy needed to take a bath. They learned new words such as sponge, flannel, bubble bath, soap, suds, shampoo, lotion and towel.

After exploring the bath time resources, they set about bathing the babies in our home area. As they worked, the children learned to wash, rinse and pour. They were also very gentle and thought about how to care for their babies. First they tested the temperature of the water to make sure it was just right. They then held their babies carefully so they didn’t slide in the water. They also made sure soap didn’t get in their babies eyes.

The children used their senses to explore too. The bar of soap was slippy when wet and the shampoo smelled so nice.

We have very lucky babies at South Street Nursery!
