Article 28: We have the right to a good quality education.
This week as part of our science unit we have been investigating which objects in our classroom are magnetic. We collected a range of items and tested them with a magnet.
We also moved around the classroom to investigate some of the objects we couldn’t bring to our tables such as the walls and door.
At the end of out investigation we used a table to show our findings. We discovered that all of the objects that were not made out of metal were not magnetic. We found out that all of the objects that stuck to the magnet, and were therefore magnetic, were made of metal.
Mrs Stevenson told us that magnetic materials are always made of metal, but not all metals are magnetic. We were surprised when she showed us two 1p coins – one was magnetic and the other wasn’t. We found out that this is because they are made of different metals depending on when they were made.
