We decided to look more closely at one of our favourite bugs called ladybird. We noticed that they had spots on their wings and that the numbers were equal on both sides. The children soon became hooked on identifying double numbers. They found how to represent doubles on a dice, with their fingers and using objects. The children created their own ladybird doubles by using play dough and rolling a dice. They gave their own ladybird the double number by matching and then counting the total.
