Article 24: Every child has the right to the best possible health.
We are learning about how to keep our teeth healthy and clean. We listened to a story about ‘The Selfish Crocodile’ by Faustin Charles and heard that he had a very sore tooth. Our class crocodile was complaining of sore teeth too. He had eaten too many sugary foods and needed to go to the dentist. The children helped crocodile by explaining which teeth had lots of sugar and were not so good for our teeth and those that were less sugary. The children thought about they kinds of food that they consume and were surprised by some items such as fruit juice and raisins. They sorted different foods and learned that sugar makes your teeth go bad. The children found out about visiting the dentist too and that we need to brush our teeth every morning and at night. They took part in a teeth cleaning challenge. The children took home a toothbrush chart over the school holidays and brushed their teeth twice a day just like in the song we learned at school.
