Article 31: Every child has the right to relax, play and take part in a wide range of cultural and artistic activities.
The children in Reception class were learning about the story of the First Christmas and heard about the important animals that were part of the story. They visited a local farm to find out more about these animals, and to have some Christmas time fun with their friends. While at the farm, the children met sheep and a donkey just like in the story. They remembered the songs from the Christmas performance that featured the animals. In addition, they also met some other creatures that live on the farm including pigs, llamas, cows, chicks and small animals in the petting barn. In order to make our visit safe, the children remembered some important rules such as keeping our hands flat when feeding the animals, being gentle when holding them and not putting their fingers in their mouths after handling. They remembered to wash their hands too.
The children also took part in some traditional Christmas events such as meeting Santa and talking to Dasher the reindeer. They even made some reindeer food to take home to put on the doorstep on Christmas Eve. We all had lots of fun at the farm!
