This week the Emerald Explorers were having a really close look at the trees that were all around them. They went on a visit to the forest area and found a stick that they could use to make paintings. They found lots of different kinds of sticks, branches and twigs. They noticed the shape, size and texture of the sticks and found that some were very bendy!

On return to the class, the children worked with Elizabeth to make their own trees using watercolour paints from a tube. They noticed that they could mix water with the paints to create a different texture. The children used the sticks to paint and also found other ways such as smudging with their fingers.
