Article 29: Every child has the right to an education that helps them to care for and protect their environment.

We have had the pleasure of nurturing and caring for some duck eggs that successfully hatched out to present us with four beautiful ducklings. The children learned that they had a very responsible role to play in looking after the duckling to ensure that they could thrive. The children learned that the duck eggs needed a special environment that would enable them to hatch. They learned that an incubator helps to keep the eggs safe and to regulate the temperature. Some children made signs and posters to indicate that we need to be careful not to push the incubator.

Once the eggs hatched we then had to make sure the ducklings were fed watered and kept clean. The children learned how to stay safe around animals and knew that they needed to handle them with care then wash their hands afterwards. We even introduced the ducklings to swimming!
