Welcome to Year 3 with Miss Gallagher, Mrs Emmerson and Mrs Brown. We have so much to look forward to this autumn term and are excited about all the wonderful learning and experiences we have planned! 

As part of our English unit, we will be reading the wonderful book Egyptian Cinderella, exploring the characters, themes and language within the story. In maths, we will be developing our understanding of number, place value and calculation, building on the skills we learned in Year 2. 

During our afternoon lessons, we will be learning about the Great Fire of Gateshead in history; exploring movement and nutrition in science and experimenting with collage techniques in art. We also have lots of exciting trips and activities to look forward to throughout the term, which will help bring our learning to life. 

Every child has been given a new reading record and reading book. We encourage all children to read at home every night, where possible, and to record their reading and share comments in their reading record. We are also very lucky to visit the school library each half term, giving children the opportunity to choose books from our school library to enjoy and share at home. 

For maths homework, we ask that children access Times Tables Rock Stars at home where possible and complete a page in their homework book each week. Spellings will also be sent home weekly for children to practise at home. Children will be given their new spellings each week and will have the opportunity to practise and develop their spelling skills throughout the term. 

Our PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday, so please ensure that children come to school prepared for PE on these days. 

We are looking forward to a fantastic term full of learning, creativity, fun and new experiences. We can’t wait to see the children grow in confidence and make lots of wonderful memories along the way!
