The children have learned about different ways that we can keep out teeth healthy and clean. They listened to the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and thought some of his food choices would not be so good for his teeth. The children decided that water and milk were best for their teeth and that we should only really drink juice at meal times or as a treat. The children helped Stubbs, our school puppet, to learn about how to care for his teeth. We showed him how to brush his teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, We helped him sort out his shopping basket so that he was choosing healthy options and we sent him on a visit to the dentist.

After learning about keeping our teeth clean and healthy, we decided to change our snack area. We are only having milk and water throughout the day and are learning to enjoy different kinds of healthy snacks. The children took home a tooth brushing chart and will brush twice a day, returning their chart to class so that Stubbs can see!
